Man Beast strongman events introduction to business and developing grass roots sports
The Man Beast way……
Investing in grass roots sports is a way to build from the bottom up and give emerging talent a route to progress to bigger shows and
titles ran by the pinnacle event organisers in the sport.
Man Beast strongman has a few different elements to working
outside the big players in the sport, the likes of Giants Live and Ultimate Strongman, by
diversifying the sport into roadshows and events in front of mass audiences.
The roadshow takes the sport of strongman out to venues,
business and locations to mass audiences who otherwise wouldn’t know where to
watch a show or follow any of the sport other than watching it on the TV at
xmas.
The strength roadshow has took us out to seaside promenades
pulling buses and trucks, into libraries dragging historic book cases for a media launch, lifting
cars in Barnsley town centre to deadlifting 4x4 trucks for Evans Halshaw
dealerships.
We have also ran some team days with our athletes with a tug of
war tournament, always a popular. We have also run some tea days with colleagues pulling buses together using our
equipment.
But our most popular shows are the family venues such as farm parks,
where our customers buy a strongman show in and audiences get to see the events
live and meet the athletes.
These shows also give a platform for strongmen (and now
women) to experience a large crowd. Something that a regional level strength athlete wouldn't normally happen outside Giants live or ultimate strongman , most shows taking place in a car park and struggling to
attract an audience. A little
underground some in the sport may say.
Our vision has been to aid accessibility to the sport by
attending community events, having all athletes approachable for pictures and
performing some amazing fetes of strength at any location.
Part of sustaining a pool of reliable athletes we can deploy
at our shows (big names alongside less well known athletes) is providing an
experience not only for the client and fans but also the athletes.
Food, water and basics provided at our shows (at some local
shows even this isn’t provided), and payment for crew and athletes at our
bought in services to re-invest in individual careers.
It still amazes me these athletes all work full time (except
some at world level that are full time strongmen) and juggle work and family
life around competing in a sport they love. Financially rewarding them for this
assists the sport to develop.
We have also secured some sponsorships for our athletes as
well as sponsoring athletes early on in their strongman journey financially and earning
loyalty in years to come if/when they make the big time.
It is fair to say the sport of strongman (and strongwomen)
is developing at a rapid pace and becoming more popular – no doubt with the
emergence of social media and the ability to reach a different audience with
instant content across multiple platforms.
But there is still a place for live shows and especially
those shows that are accessible and are provided in a variety of venues (not
behind closed doors) that expose the sport to new and interested
audiences that follow the sport longer term.
